Albuquerque, NM – Two Fatalities, Three Injuries in Street Racing Accident on Louisiana Blvd near Delwood Rd, Andy Doreste-Saumell Charged

Albuquerque, NM (October 9, 2023) – A tragic incident unfolded due to alleged street racing, resulting in two deaths and three injuries on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The collision took place on Louisiana Blvd south of Comanche Rd in northeast Albuquerque. As two cars raced at high speeds, they struck a third car entering the Louisiana Blvd. and Delwood Rd intersection. The third car’s driver died, and two 14-year-olds sustained injuries. Another fatality and injury arose from one racing car, while occupants, including a child, in the second racing car sustained injuries.

Police arrested Andy Doreste-Saumell, charging him with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, child abuse, and street racing. He’s now in the Metropolitan Detention Center. Troopers are continuing their investigation into the incident.
