Eddy County, NM – Fatal Collision on US-285 & SR-31 Involving Passenger and Commercial Vehicles

Eddy County, NM (February 26, 2024) – A fatal two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of US HWY 285 and SR-31 on Sunday, February 25. The crash, involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle occurred early in the morning at around 6:47 a.m.

Anthony Javier Rivera, a 20-year-old from Fabens, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene despite EMS’s life-saving efforts. Authorities notified Rivera’s next of kin. No other injuries were reported. During the on-scene investigation, the crash led to a closure of the intersection in all directions for about three hours.

Sunland Park, NM – Serious Two-Vehicle Crash at McNutt Rd & 1st St Hospitalizes Two
