Raton, NM (February 11, 2024) – A tragic collision on US Highway 64/87, near milepost 355, claimed the life of an infant on Friday, February 9, around 5:21 p.m. Kiustyn Martin De La Torre, 41, from Florida, was driving a 2022 Ram pickup eastbound at a reduced speed with emergency flashers on when it was hit from behind by a semi-truck driven by Talon Green, 29, of Texas.
Four passengers from the pickup were hospitalized in Raton, while the infant was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck’s driver received, minor injuries. The highway was closed for investigation, causing significant traffic delays.
Authorities stated alcohol was not a factor, and all occupants had seatbelts on, with the infant secured in a car seat. The New Mexico State Police are investigating the crash.
