Hobbs, NM – Pedestrian Fatality at Broadway and Turner

Hobbs, NM (May 13, 2024) – A fatal accident claimed the life of 43-year-old Leroy Gonzalez in Hobbs on Sunday night. Hobbs Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Broadway and Turner around 10:31 p.m. on May 12.

Gonzalez sustained severe injuries after being struck by a maroon pickup truck driven by a juvenile while he was in the roadway. He was transported to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Clovis, NM – Pedestrian Fatality in Hit-and-Run at Seventh St and West St

Clovis, NM (May 8, 2024) — Late Monday night, May 6, a tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of 73-year-old Vincent Galvan in Clovis. According to the Clovis Police Department, the accident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Seventh St and West St. Emergency responders arrived to find Galvan severely injured in the eastbound lane.

Galvan was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle involved was last seen heading north on Hull St from Seventh St. The Clovis PD Major Crash Team is investigating and urges anyone with information to come forward.

Las Cruces, NM – Storefront Crash at Savers on Main St Results in 1 Fatality, 14 Injuries

Las Cruces, NM (May 1, 2024) – A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday, April 30, when a 2015 Ford Explorer crashed into the Savers store on Main St just before 10 a.m. The vehicle penetrated the glass and aluminum façade, veering right into the self-checkout area before halting in the showroom.

Elijah Sanchez, a Savers employee, described the scene as chaotic with people screaming in pain. In total, 15 people were injured, including two employees. Pamela Kaye Nelson, 67, succumbed to her injuries. The other victims, aged between 30 to 90, were either hospitalized or treated on site.

The 69-year-old driver, who was attempting to park, reportedly confused the accelerator with the brake. She self-transported to the hospital post-collision. The investigation into this devastating crash continues.
