Clovis, NM (December 27, 2023) – A grave two-vehicle collision resulted in the death of 83-year-old Billie Brazell on Tuesday, December 26. The incident took place at the intersection of 21st St and Mitchell St. Clovis police, along with fire and EMS teams, responded to the scene at approximately 2:20 p.m.
Brazell, driving a Toyota Corolla, was making a southward turn onto Mitchell St from 21st St when a Dodge Charger, driven by a 24-year-old, collided with her vehicle. The Charger reportedly traveled east on 21st St.
Emergency personnel extracted the younger driver from the Charger and attended to Brazell. Despite their efforts, Brazell succumbed to her injuries. Witnesses at the scene suggested that the Charger had been racing a truck moments before the accident. The truck fled the scene and remains unidentified.
The Clovis Police Department’s Crash Team has initiated a thorough investigation.
