Socorro, NM (June 1, 2024) – A hit-and-run accident on Friday, May 31, resulted in a fatality on I-25 near mile marker 161. Around 5:30 a.m., a Chevrolet pickup swerved to avoid a deer, rolling over. The driver and passenger exited safely.
While collecting debris, Adriana Jurado, 22, was struck by a northbound white sedan. The sedan fled the scene, and Jurado died on-site.
New Mexico State Police request public assistance in identifying the vehicle, which has significant front-end damage. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident, and more information will be shared as the investigation progresses.
