Magdalena, NM (August 14, 2024) – A head-on collision on Highway 60, 12 miles west of Magdalena, resulted in two driver fatalities and left one passenger in critical condition. The crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m., prompting a response from the Socorro County Sheriff’s deputies, EMS teams from Socorro and Magdalena, Magdalena marshals, and State Police.
Emergency personnel shut down the highway for about two hours to process the scene and extricate the trapped passenger, who was airlifted to receive medical attention. The vehicles appeared to have spun around after the collision.
