San Miguel County, NM (September 17, 2024) – A 3-year-old boy tragically died after being hit by a vehicle while camping with his family on Saturday, September 14. According to New Mexico State Police, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on New Mexico Road 63.
Dogs from the group ran onto the road, and a northbound vehicle stopped for them. After the dogs were removed, the driver drove away, unaware the child was standing nearby. The boy was struck by the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries.
No charges have been filed as of Monday afternoon. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident, and updates will be provided as more details emerge.
